Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker was critically injured when his motorcycle crashed with an SUV in Miami on Thursday night, police said.
Walker, 23, was taken to a trauma center following the crash at Northwest 21st Avenue and Northwest 75th Street, Miami-Dade police told WTVJ.
Walker was riding an off-road dirt bike without a helmet or headlights around 8 p.m., when he collided with a Ford Escape SUV at an intersection, Detective Dan Ferrin said. Walker was wearing dark clothing, including a Ravens jersey, Ferrin said.
The woman driving the SUV was unhurt. Ferrin noted that motorcycles, including dirt bikes, are required to have headlights and a license plate.
Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash, WBAL reported.
The Ravens confirmed in a statement that Walker is in Jackson Memorial Hospital.
“This is devastating news. Our prayers and hopes are with Tray and his family tonight,” coach John Harbaugh said.
Walker, a native of Miami, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by Baltimore.
According to The Sun-Sentinel, Walker is the third NFL player in nine months to be seriously injured while in South Florida.
