Have you been upset about a particular part of your body with its shape or size and you have frantically try to reduce in that specific area but all your efforts are going in vain? You may be upset about your sagging breasts or your sagging abs which is a common feature after childbirth (in case of women). Have you heard of liposuction before? If not, it’s high time you know about it.
Liposuction/Fat Transfer also known as lipoplasty ("fat modeling") or simply lipo is a minimally invasive procedure that removes fat from unwanted part of the body. This same fat can be injected into other areas of the body where contouring is desired(fat transfer) and can serve as a good substitute for prosthetic implants or silicone implants which we noticed in many especially the pigment skin that they are averse to it.
Areas of concern for body sculpturing are the abdomen, thighs, breasts, hips, pubis, buttocks, male breast tissue (gynaecomastia), chin/neck, back of the arms, the love handles, the legs and the forehand.
There has been improvement over the years in liposuction and fat transfer. Improvements have been made that more fat cells can now be easily removed and transfer, with less blood loss, less discomfort, and less risk with the technique called tumescent fluids.
Apart from safety which a lot of concern citizen are concern about one clearly say that when this procedure in done in health young adult by specialist and necessary investigations done to rule out other health issue that can militate or put the person at risk this procedure can be done without any issue except for little discomfort expressed by the clients.
Recent developments also suggest that the recovery period can be shortened as well. Most people are able to get up and move around as soon as the treatment is finished and after the effects of the anesthesia or sedation have worn off. You can return to your normal activities as soon as you feel comfortable. Most people can return to work within a few days. Recovery may take longer if large areas were treated.
In our clinic, we make use of the power assisted liposuction machine (2015 edition Moller) with tumescent technique in liposuction and fat transfer. This technique uses cannula that has a spinning end to break the fat while the fat is being suctioned. In this procedure we use standard markings and incisions less than 5mm to pass the cannula under the skin to the fat layer while the cannula with a spinning end breaks the deep and superficial fats and simultaneously suck the fats.
This technique has been proven to reduce bruising and bleeding, less risk and discomfort. Liposuction is usually done as an outpatient procedure in our properly equipped clinic for localized areas of the body especially when there is no other major procedure being done. In general, it does not require an overnight hospital stay unless a large volume of fat is being removed or additional procedure is done. Local anesthesia is used in some cases and you may or may not be given a sedative to help you relax. If a large area or volume of fat is being treated, general anesthesia or deep sedation with a local anesthetic may be used.
Our fat transfer is by use of Tulip cannula an American device after careful separation of the fat before transfer is being done to request areas of the body e.g. the butt or the face.
What To Think About???
Liposuction should be done only by a doctor who has special training in liposuction and surgery of the skin and knows how to respond to complications during surgery. You will also be at less risk for complications if liposuction is not done at the same time with other cosmetic procedures.
Common side effects of liposuction include:
• Temporary swelling, bruising, soreness, and numbness in and around the treated areas.
• Irritation and minor scarring around the incision sites where the cannulas were inserted.
• Baggy or rippling skin. The skin will usually tighten and retract after a few months. But in some people the skin may remain somewhat loose.
STRETCH MARKS:
The dermis is 95% of the total skin volume and when the dermis is constantly overstretched it can break down and leave stretch marks behind. Stretch marks occur when skin doesn't bounce back after it's been stretched due to pregnancy, rapid weight gain, extreme weight loss, or use of toning and bleaching products. Hence, stretch marks seem to be caused, literally, by stretching of the skin.
Focus of stretch mark treatment will be to restore the structural integrity of the skin by increasing the thickness of the skin and stimulating collagen formation. This could be achieved by using the following products:-Copper Serum, SND Corrector, and Intensive Scar repair with Microneedle.
These products contain medical ingredients that either increase or stimulate collagen formation.
With a fraxel or CO2 laser, you are more sure of the result of treatment. This laser works on two principles which is removing some layer of the skin involve and also sending heat to the dermis to stimulate more collagen formation.
The first few days will reddening and darkening of the area involve with exfoliation and discomfort.
Subsequently there will be total removal of the stretch mark in the involve area because new skin formation and collagen formation in the involved area.
The down time is between 2-4 weeks and you are sure of a clear new skin.
We use the fraxel or fractional laser or simply called the CO2 in the treatment of stretch mark.
The areas treated with the CO2 laser or fraxel laser might be sore for some days but the skin strength and integrity is restored back in no time.
Other functions of the CO2 laser include vaginal tightening, acne scars, post burn scars, keloids, hypertrophic scars, wrinkles, pigment removal, skin resurfacing etc.
Common complications are: redness, post laser hyperpigmentation and scarring
WHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox as it name may sound is not used for the butt but rather to cancel out wrinkles in common areas of the body like the face and the neck.Botulinium toxin injections are use to temporarily paralyze muscle activities in specific areas of the body. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin used to make Botox(Allergan) and some other brand names. There’re 7 types of Botulinium toxins, which are: botulinium toxin A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Botulinium toxin A and C are the recommended and widely used Botox.
MODE OF ACTION/HOW IT WORKS
Botox blocks the release of a chemical called acetylcholine which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Botox works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet. The needles use in administering Botox is so thin and fine that the procedure is often painless. It should only be injected with sterile instruments in a doctor's office or a medical spa, not at Botox parties at your local nail salon or neighbor's living room.
Results are visible within one week after treatment and remain for a minimum of six months and more.Though it could be longer or shorter in duration based on the muscle built ad activity in the specific area of the body. Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure can take anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes.
The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that underlie and cause wrinkles, such as:
• Frown lines between the eyebrows
• Crow's-feet (the lines that fan out from the corners of the eyes)
• Forehead furrows (the horizontal lines that form when you raise your eyebrows)
• Ocular muscle spasms disorder
• Problem with eye coordination
• Severe armpit perspiration (excessive sweating).
• Migraine headaches
• Overactive bladder/ Urinary incontinence
Common Side Effect
Botox cosmetic may cause headache, nausea, flu-like symptoms loss of strength or general muscle weakness, vision problems, or dizziness after taking Botox cosmetic. If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities. These side effects usually resolve within hours or days.
DERMA FILLERS
As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat and its major constituents (collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid). Collagen acts as the major support protein for our skin, elastin allows our skin to stay firm and resist wrinkles, and hyaluronic acid helps to trap water and add volume and shape to our skin. Derma fillers, also known as “injectables” or “soft-tissue fillers,” do just what their name suggests: they fill in the area under the skin.
The Derma fillers are injected into the skin to fill in facial wrinkles to restore a smoother appearance. Unlike Botox injections that relax the muscle under a wrinkle, dermal fillers fill the line, crease, or the area. Injectable fillers can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs.
Some filler are natural and some are synthetic, but they all work to improve the appearance of aging skin in the following ways:
- filling in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases
- improving other imperfections like scars
- filling out thin or wrinkled lips
- plumping up cheeks
- contouring the jaw line and other areas of the face
Derma fillers can also be used as "volumizers," plumping and lifting cheeks, jawlines, and temples; filling out thin lips, and plumping sagging hands. Most of these fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body.
Most derma fillers will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year. Some people may need more than one injection to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect. The effect lasts for about six months or longer. Not every wrinkle-filler is right for every type of wrinkle.
Common Side Effect
The least risks and best results come from using the right one correctly. That's why you should only have fillers injected by a board-certified dermatologist. Visit Grandville Medical and Laser as we have best trained doctor with our well-equipped facilities.
GLUTATHIONE SKIN WHITENING TREATMENT:
Glutathione is an antioxidant that helps whiten the skin, synthesize and repair DNA, facilitate the recycling of vitamins C and E and it is made of all-natural amino acids that occur in nature and are beneficial to our bodies. Glutathione can be found in many healthy foods that people eat on a regular basis, some of which are actually considered among the healthiest foods in the world such as asparagus, broccoli, spinach, garlic, raw tomatoes and avocadoes however they won’t actually work to whiten your skin.
Glutathione is commonly taken in pill form or it can also be taken via intravenous injection, though you’ll need to visit your dermatologist to have this procedure done. Glutathione injections are highly effective and as such many dermatologists recommend Glutathione injections because they get 100-percent of the dose into your bloodstream. This antioxidant slows your body’s aging process and helps the body to detoxify. Most people use glutathione in the treatment of skin blemishes such as moles, freckles, uneven skin tone, age spot, skin patches, spots, wrinkles and getting a light skin. Therefore it is the best anti-aging product in the market
HAIR LOSS
Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a loss of hair from the head or body. Traction alopecia is a small or localized hair loss area caused by repetitive or persistent pulling or traction on hair roots. Tight braids and ponytails can pull hard enough on hairs to make them fall out. Baldness can refer to general hair loss or male pattern hair loss. Hair loss may cause gradual thinning, bald patches, or complete baldness.
For hair loss to be noticeable you have to have lost about 50% of what is in the area.
Causes: As we age, our hair naturally begins to thin. For both men and women, the most common cause of hair loss (alopecia) is heredity, as your likelihood of experiencing hair loss increases if your relatives have experienced hair loss. Other contributing factors may include underlying medical or hormonal problems, medications, excessive weight loss, stress, chemotherapy or radiation. Signs of hair loss vary by each person and symptoms can include sudden loss of patches of hair, noticeable thinning on the scalp or crown, a receding hair line or excessive shedding.
Treatment (Hair Regrowth): Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) may be used as a treatment for hair regrowth. For optimal results, Grandville Medical and Laser is the best place to have your Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) cosmetic treatment.
CONGENITAL CLEFT LIP AND PALATE
Cleft lip and cleft palate are birth defects that occur when a baby’s lip or mouth do not form properly during pregnancy. Together, these birth defects commonly are called “orofacial clefts”. These birth defects happen early during pregnancy. A baby can have a cleft lip, a cleft palate, or both a cleft lip and cleft palate.
This is one of the commonest childhood anomalies. The body during the process of face forming in utero may end up with structural failure appearing as deformities. Children or adult born with this deformity are not nuisance to the society and are normal children and they are as intelligent as any other children born without a defect.
With our smile train partnership we offer free surgery to both children and adult born with the defect involving the lip and the palate. We offer world class reconstructive surgery of this defect.
