'Muslim Shouting Allahu Akbar’ Stabs Jewish Rabbi, 62, In Horrifying Street Attack In France

A Jewish rabbi has been stabbed in France, allegedly by a Muslim man screaming “Allahu Akbar”.

The 62-year-old victim was reportedly attacked outside a brasserie in the Jewish quarter in the North East of Strasbourg.

The attacker was apparently restrained by a passer-by before cops arrive to arrest him.

Witnesses reported hearing the assailant scream “God is great” in Arabic before launching the bloody assault, local media have reported. The attacker has now been arrested, according to police sources quoted by AP news agency.

The unnamed spokesman said the victim, who was wearing “clear exterior signs of his religion” at the time of the attack, was not seriously injured. But despite saying the knife-wielding man shouted “Allahu akbar” during the attack, the source said the incident was not thought to be terror-related.

Cops said the man had a history of psychiatric problems, saying he had “clear deficiencies”.

The attacker was apparently also known to police and had a record, although it is not clear at this time what for.
