Gunmen storm upmarket Nairobi hotel complex-News

As authorities regain control of the DusitD2 hotel and office compound, the unofficial death toll ranges between six and 15.

At least six people were killed when a suicide bomber and gunmen stormed an upmarket hotel and office complex in Nairobi on Tuesday, with police still trying to secure the compound early Wednesday after a siege of over 12 hours.

Kenya's interior ministry said a tweet that all buildings had been secured and there was no further threat to the public.
The attack at the DusitD2 compound, which includes a 101-room hotel, spa, restaurant, and offices for local and international companies, began at 1200GMT on Tuesday with a massive explosion, heard five kilometres (three miles) away at the AFP bureau.
The compound is in a well-to-do neighbourhood with many American, European and Indian expatriates.
Gunshots rang out sporadically in the capital as police tried to rescue survivors and flush out the attackers, however, it was unclear how many were still hiding inside the complex.
After 12 hours trapped inside the complex, a group of dozens of people was freed at 0030GMT (3:30 am) Wednesday, according to a journalist on the scene, followed by fresh gunfire and a detonation.
